THE QUIET ONE - The Transformation of the Catapitty Part II

I guess I wasn’t quite done with the analysis of the dynamics of the dysfunctional family. I continue to process thought after thought, story after story. I don’t have a quaint analogy to go along with this one; I can’t even seem to find the humor. (A rarity for me) Maybe it is because of the heaviness of the day, today is October 2, 2017 the day after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, NV. I guess nothing seems too funny today.

The vision I keep getting is about the “Quiet One” or the shy one. Every large family usually has at least one. Sometimes it follows the stereotypical birth order and is the middle child and sometimes it is not. In my family of 5, the way that it went was the 4th child was the quiet one. She was the home body, the one who was much more content hanging around with my mom as she went about her daily chores. The quiet one did everything in her power not to be seen, heard, felt or known. But I think the opposite was true, I think she was dying to be seen, heard, felt and known. She just wasn’t born with the tools to do so nor was she nurtured to embrace her gifts. She presented as such a meek persona. Afraid of everything. Maybe she sensed that she was different, that she was more in tuned to the pain around her. I am beginning to think that she is an "Empath" who never learned to navigate that gift.

In my story "The Transformation of the Catapitty", she was not even mentioned. Where was she during all of the chaos of our family? She was the observer, she was the quiet witness and now I am beginning to think she was the sponge who was sopping up all of the negative energy. The more I understand energy, frequencies and their positive and negative effects, my eyes are beginning to see and appreciate the impact.

What exactly is an empath; it is such a buzz word and the younger generation love using it. But when I was growing up there were no words. You were just unusual, shy, emotional or introverted. Depending on how the child was coping with the on slot of incoming information. My understanding of an empath is someone who is highly sensitive but tends to feel, absorb and internalize the feeling and pain of others. So much so that some empaths cannot distinguish others feelings, pain or discomfort from their own.The gifts of an empath are magnificent when acknowledged, honored and cultivated.

Spiritual Benefits of Being an Empath

This is a simple list of the spiritual benefits of being an empath:

1. Your intuitive abilities can skyrocket practically overnight, once you learn how to manage your energy. You are very intuitive, clairaudient, clairvoyant, clairsentient, and clairknowing. You can learn how to tap into the universal consciousness to gain wisdom and advice.

2. You are a great manifestor! Your manifesting abilities are very strong once you learn how to use the power of intention with emotional vibrational alignment.

3. You are a natural healer. Your healing abilities will improve overtime, once you learn to let go and trust your energy flow, without fearing becoming drained by others. In reality, when you heal others, you heal yourself.

4. You can connect easily with your inner guidance for help and support. Most empaths have feelings of angels helping them.

On the other side of the spectrum is the penalty of an empath who never learns to navigate the muddy waters. Worst of all most become a co-dependent nurturer; looking to save others because they are unable to save themselves. This only complicates things more as they try to cure the world self-imposing more pain. Their vessel becomes bursting at the seams; deformed by the overstuffing of all of that junk. They may tend to fall into deep depressions and self-destructive behaviors. They just can’t cope.

Here is another excerpt from the article, in regards to the struggles of an empath.“Am I an Empath” restoremotionalbalance.com/am-i-an-empath

Am I An Empath?

1. You absorb negative energies from the environment you are in, either from objects, electronics or people. You may also be sensitive to ghosts, discarnate entities and low energies.

2. You carry a heavy load and it is not yours. You are affected by negative behavior of others and often chose to engage in negative behavior yourself in order to fit in.

3. You always seem to know what people are thinking and feeling and are affected because you care so much and want to help. This causes you to be in codependent relationships with narcissists and selfish people, who don’t really care about you.

4. You have a very hard time sticking up for yourself and feel taken advantage of by family members, friends and even strangers.

5. Somehow you feel responsible for what happens to others in your life and end up participating in their sorrow. You also feel resentful of not being appreciated.

You may ask, "What is the cure, the fix, the way out"?

The first step is always the recognition of a pattern. Having the emotional maturity to see, know and admit that you have been affected by the pain of the others. Take a few moments to muse over the idea that a high percentage of what you feel may not even belong to you. Maybe, just maybe you may have been absorbing and storing the emotional pain or negative energy of others within your being. Could it be that your physical ailments, emotional pain and current addictions are just a manifestation of not knowing how to recognize and allow such energy to just move on through.

The second step is to seek help. Having a supportive way to decipher and work through what is real and what isn’t. As you shed the years of pain and negative energy you will begin to step into a new self-awareness and personal power. A twelve step program is the best way to address any addictions or tendency towards co-dependency. The physical and emotional pain can be addressed with someone who is up to date and knowledgeable in Energy Healthcare or Energy Healing. There are several wonderful practitioners in a variety of modalities. I choose to practice Reconnective Healing because of it's emphasis on a return to balance, through our own inner knowing. We are the only one who can heal ourselves.

As you chose for yourself, be savvy, if the program or practitioners are not directing you back to your inner knowing, then step away. This is not a lifelong process; this process should not feel like yet another co-dependent relationship. You are your own healer. Start asking, reading and absorbing as much information as you can about energy work. Do not be lured into gimmicks, use your empathic gifts to sense how you feel about each decision that you make about your health and wellbeing. Finding a good therapist who holds you accountable and guides you to return to your innate perfection is yet another way to find healing. Remember being an Empath is not a license to bury your head in the sand. Walking in your knowing and power will bring you to a new level of joy and satisfaction.

Finally, embrace your new found freedom. Enjoy the miracle of the Gift of Mercy you have been given. Celebrate your uniqueness, express yourself in art, in nature, in writing or whatever way feels joyful. Play, dance and be silly. It is never too late to remember who you really are. You were created in the magnificence and perfection of your creator. If all of this sounds way too simple for a complex problem, let me remind you that it is us who make it complex. Our source, our creator, our higher power can assist us when we choose to let go and allow.
